Taif University is located in the north of Taif in the Hawiyah region on the airport road. On 27 Jumada I 1400 AH, a royal decree was issued to establish the College of Education in Taif, which is affiliated with King Abdulaziz University, and the college was annexed to Umm Al-Qura University under a royal order. The university also has three branches in Taif governorate: Tarbah branch (about 150 km away from the city of Taif), al-Khurma branch (approximately 200 km away from the city of Taif), and Rania branch (approximately 350 km away from the city of Taif).
