The Islamic University was established in Madinah, and it is an international Islamic institution in terms of its purpose, and Saudi Arabia in terms of affiliation. The university includes 9 colleges and an institute, in addition to two institutes without the university, and two houses of Hadith, as it offers 55 study programs and grants 5 academic degrees, which are intermediate diploma, bachelor's, higher diploma, master and doctorate.

It works to educate all Muslim students of knowledge from all over the country who join it and to train scholars specialized in Islamic and Arabic sciences and scholars in religion equipped with the sciences and knowledge to qualify them for the call to Islam, and solve the problems presented to Muslims in the affairs of their religion and world according to the guidance of the Book and the Sunnah. It also collects the Islamic heritage and takes care of preserving, investigating, and disseminating it. In addition to establishing scientific and cultural links with universities, scientific bodies, and institutions in the world and documenting them to serve Islam and achieve its goals.
